        We will spend the first half of our year studying Homer's Iliad, and then move on to later Greek and Roman works, including Oedipus Rex, Lysistrata, The Bacchae, Pseudolus, and others. If the class is exceptional, we may choose to read The Odyssey as well. In addition, we will read and analyze modern commentaries on these ancient works, including Simone Weil, Hans Urs Von Balthazar, Rachel Bespaloff, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzche, and others.
