WELCOME TO THE LARGEST AND MOST POWERFUL CLUB AT THE SAINT LOUIS PRIORY SCHOOL!
SEXT: (pronounced 'sekst'): Middle English sexte, from the Late Latin sexta, from Latin, 'sixth hour of the day'. The fourth of the canonical hours. The noonday prayer of the Benedictine monk.
SODA: (pronounced 'so-duh'): Italian, from the Arabic suwwUd, any of several saltworts fromt he ashes of which sodium carbonate is obtained. A delightful carbonated beverage consisting of soda water, flavoring, and lots of yummy goodness.

HISTORY OF THE SEXT AND SODA CLUB
In 1502, the first Sext and Soda club was founded by the child oblates of Saint Ethelbert Abbey in Blumbshire, Kent. Not long afterward, the club died out. After all, soda was not to be introduced to England for another several hundred years.
Exactly five hundred years later, the Sext and Soda Club was re-founded by students of the Priory School who wanted to drink soda during lunch, but needed a good excuse to do so. Since the Priory School is run by Benedictine monks, and Benedictine monks are cool, it was decided that the "Sext and Soda Club" should attend noonday prayer with the monks, and then head over to the dining hall for the subsequent feast and beverages. The combination of secular and profane was such a thrilling amalgamation that within weeks of its inception, the club itself had swelled to over fifty members.
The club continues to this day, a major player in world affairs and a significant cultural influence in the greater Saint Louis area. If you would like to start a branch of the Sext and Soda club at your school, well that's just too bad. You need to have a monastery full of monks nearby, and there just aren't that many school with monks attached to them. But you can come visit us, and we promise to share our soda.
